The band’s history began in Nitra, Slovakia, in 1992, when Peter Hrivňák – Kuko (vocals, bass), Mário Sabo – Saboter (guitar), and Martin Košovan – Košo (drums) formed a musical unit under the name Horkýže Slíže. Since then, they have toured not only in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, but have also performed in the United States, Ireland, England, and Italy. In 2012, they launched their very own festival, Slížovica. Today, Horkýže Slíže perform with a lineup featuring Peter Hrivňák – Kuko (vocals), Mário Sabo – Saboter (guitar), Juraj Štefánik – Doktor (guitar), Marek Viršík – Jean Claude Vandel (drums), and Veronika Smetanová (bass guitar).
Throughout their entire existence, the band members have never lost their signature tongue-in-cheek linguistic flair, absurd humor, parody, and provocative spirit. Slíže have played over 2,000 shows, released 15 albums, published 2 books, boasts over 100 million views on YouTube, and were voted the second most popular Slovak band in the Český Slavík music awards a few years ago. Hits like Malá Žužu, Silný refrén, Nazdar!!!, R’n’B Soul, and A ja sprostá are now legendary, effortlessly bridging families and entire generations.
Horkýže Slíže and the Rock for People festival have been inextricably linked for nearly 20 years. The band first performed at Rock for People in 2007 and has been right at home at the festival ever since. They have delivered countless unforgettable shows, and every return visit is a highlight for festival fans. Joining forces for this monumental milestone show makes perfect sense, and they jointly invite you to the O2 arena for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
