The band consists of a group of childhood friends who have been playing together for ten years. They kicked off their career with their debut EP Swabian Samba (2018), followed by their debut album Showtime (2019), two more EPs, and a second album. They gradually became a German phenomenon that began to transcend domestic borders and set out into the world, from London to Lisbon to Paris.
Their latest release is the EP Bedroom Tapes, which they literally recorded in their parents’ bedroom ten years ago. “We always really loved the recordings, but we never put them out,” the band says, adding: “We did it by ourselves, there was no budget behind it. It was like just, ‘let’s write music that feels good to us.’” Bedroom Tapes is thus a glimpse into the true essence of Rikas and offers a light fusion of vintage pop, rock, and alternative melodies.
